For the University of Montana homecoming weekend, the Grizzlies beat the Idaho State Bengals, 59-20, with a second half resurgence at Washington-Grizzly Stadium, Oct. 5, 2019.

Players and fans endured periodic rain showers and temperatures in the mid 40s during the game. In the first half, Griz and Bengal players slipped on the wet field as fans huddled under rain coats and shouted support through foggy breath.

The Bengals led the Griz 10-0 in the first quarter with notable performances by receivers Michael Dean and Tanner Conner. In the second quarter, the Griz responded by scoring 24 points with touchdowns by Marcus Knight and Samuel Akem. The two teams went into their locker rooms with the score 17-24, Griz in the lead at the half.

In the game's final half of the game, the Griz stayed consistent with their scoring by achieving 14 points in the third quarter and 21 in the fourth. Wide receiver Samori Toure assisted with a touchdown and quarterback Dalton Sneed rushed scoring a total of two touchdowns.

After UM's victory over Idaho State University, the Griz are 5-1 and the Bengals 2-3 in the Big Sky Conference. This time last year, the Grizzlies were 4-2. The Griz will play Sacramento State next on Oct. 19 in Sacramento, California.
