Cheered on by a scattered crowd in Dahlberg Arena, the University of Montana Lady Griz faced off against themselves in the annual Maroon-Silver scrimmage on Oct. 22, 2019.

Tuesday night’s game saw Maroon beat Silver 58-53, carried by top point-scorers Sammy Fatkin, Taylor Goligoski, Jordyn Schweyen, McKenzie Johnston and Sophia Styles, all reaching double digits.

Fatkin, a junior, led UM’s scoring with 19 points overall, starting the season off strong amongst a team of fresh faces. These included freshmen Shelby Schweyen and Jamie Pickens, who switched back and forth between Maroon and Silver between quarters along with their teammates.

Regardless of year, the Lady Griz swapped seamlessly from team to team, and the game stayed close over all 34 minutes of play. Maroon and Silver tied up in the third quarter, but Maroon pulled ahead by the end thanks to points from Fatkin and senior Emma Stockholm.

The whole Lady Griz team will face off against Lewis-Clark State next, at home on Oct. 25, 2019.
