The University of Montana men’s basketball team defeated Portland State University 85-70 in a close game Monday evening, Jan. 13, 2020, at Dahlberg Arena. The Montana Grizzlies came into the game having lost to the Portland State Vikings twice last season, but now have five conference wins with one loss.
The Vikings were the first to score in the opening minutes of the game. University of Montana senior guards Sayeed Pridgett and Kendal Manuel responded by scoring soon after. The two teams jostled to a 4-point difference at halftime, with Montana leading 46-42.
Montana scored an additional 39 points in the second half, and Portland State scored another 28 points. University of Montana forward Mack Anderson had back-to-back slam dunks in the final minutes and scored a total of 10 points with two rebounds for the game. Guards Kendal Manuel and Sayeed Pridgett led the Grizzlies in scoring. Manuel scored 27 points and Pridgett scored 17 points.
The University of Montana Grizzlies are still ranked first in the Big Sky conference and will face off against the University of Idaho Vandals Saturday, Jan. 18, 2020, 6 p.m. at Dahlberg Arena.
