Shakespeare lovers flocked to the Oval with blankets and folding chairs in hand to see Montana Shakespeare in the parks’ production of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” on September 7.
As the playgoers arrived, a few of the actors moved through the crowd handing out pamphlets for the show. Then the actors took to the stage to perform the story of Athenian lovers and fairies.
The play, which ran from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., was free of charge to the public, and everyone was welcome to watch. The Montana Shakespeare in the Parks company visited around 60 communities over the summer and arrived at the University of Montana Oval for the last stop of its summer tour. The MSIP also performed Shakespeare’s “Cymbeline” on the Oval the following day.
