Facility Services at the University of Montana has temporarily closed a gallery in the Art Building while awaiting test results of possible asbestos exposure.
Facility services closed the gallery, located on the building’s second floor, after custodial staff found a fallen ceiling tile April 23. When staff discovered dust they suspected of containing asbestos, they sent a sample to Facility Services.
According to Edward Morrissey, assistant to the director of the School of Art, results will be in by April 25.
The gallery is filled with the work of graduate students, and an exhibition is scheduled for May 3.
