On March 12, the Montana Kaimin published an online photo essay with images taken by a staff member during a ride-along with a Missoula police officer. The editors of the Kaimin have since retracted the story due to privacy concerns. We unpublished it from our website several hours after it went live, and have pulled its accompanying social media posts. We sincerely regret any harm that may have been caused by its publication and will be enacting changes in the editorial process to prevent anything similar from happening in the future.
